The U.S. Institute of Peace cordially invites you to a public event:
America's Strategic Posture: Reducing Nuclear Dangers
Overview
With the President's speech in Prague, the Obama administration has launched its program to both protect America and its allies while reducing the nuclear threat to the world. The recently released report, America’s Strategic Posture: The Final Report of the Congressional Commission on the Strategic Posture of the United States, was prepared by twelve pre-eminent leaders on deterrence, arms control, and nonproliferation, key elements of the Obama program.
Three senior experts who advised the Commission and supported its deliberations will discuss their views on the report's findings and recommendations.
"We owe the Commissioners a debt of gratitude for their service. The best way to show our gratitude is by listening to them and charting our course based on where they revealed consensus is possible."
—Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ)
"[The] most impressive thing about [the report] is that not only is it so important and timely but it is readable. And I really commend this to ... Americans who are interested in understanding where we are on this issue..."
—Representative Ellen O. Tauscher (D-CA, 10th District)
"The Commission's recommendations provide a welcome dose of nuclear realism."
—Wall Street Journal, May 13, 2009
